What Sunstate Coverage Is
Sunstate Coverage is an independent Florida insurance resource. We are not a carrier, not a government website, and not affiliated with HealthCare.gov or any specific insurance company. We exist to help Florida residents understand their health insurance options — clearly, honestly, and without pressure.
We know health insurance is confusing. The terminology is dense, the plan structures are genuinely complicated, and the stakes are high. A bad decision can mean thousands of dollars in unexpected out-of-pocket costs, or finding out too late that your doctor isn't covered. We built this site because we believe Floridians deserve plain-language information and access to licensed advisors who will actually explain things — not just push you toward the highest-commission product.
Who We Are
The advisors who work with Sunstate Coverage are licensed insurance professionals based in Florida. They hold active Florida Department of Insurance licenses and specialize in health and life insurance for individuals and families. They know the Florida Marketplace, the carriers operating here, and the specific coverage landscape across the state's diverse markets — from Miami-Dade to the Panhandle.
We don't have national call centers. The people you'll speak with when you reach out have real experience navigating Florida's Marketplace — including its quirks, the variation between counties, and the specifics of subsidy calculations that can look very different depending on your household.
Our Approach
We start every conversation by listening. Before we can help you compare plans, we need to understand your situation — your income, your household, your existing doctors, your prescription needs, and what matters most to you. Coverage isn't one-size-fits-all, and we don't treat it that way.
We explain every option clearly. We don't assume you know the difference between an HMO and an EPO, or what a cost-sharing reduction is, or why your subsidy calculation changed from last year. Part of what we do is translate. By the time you're ready to make a decision, you should understand exactly what you're choosing and why.
We don't pressure. The most we'll ever ask is whether you have any more questions. If you want to take time to think it over, that's the right approach. We'd rather you make the right decision slowly than the wrong one quickly.
Why We Built This Site
Too many Florida families either go without coverage because they don't know what's available, or stay in the same plan year after year because comparing feels overwhelming, or pay more than they should because nobody showed them they qualified for a subsidy.
Every one of those outcomes is preventable. The information and the tools exist to make good coverage decisions. Our job is to put that information in front of the people who need it, in a format they can actually use, backed by advisors who can answer the questions that inevitably come up.
Sunstate Coverage is Florida-focused because the insurance landscape here is genuinely different from the rest of the country — the carriers, the networks, the county-by-county variation in plan availability, and the demographics of the population all shape how coverage decisions get made.
